Unforgettable meeting with Khmer culture

Day 1Group of Roluos &
After breakfast, you will leave by tuk-tuk to the starting point of your cycling day, close to the Siem Reap bus station. From here you will begin your mountain bike ride through small rural villages to the Bakong Temple. During the rainy season, the rice fields extend as far as the eye can see, offering sublime landscapes of green Khmer countryside. Arrived at the Bakong, you will embark on the exploration of the temple. The next temple, Prasat Preah Ko (Temple of the Holy Cow), is just 300 meters to the south. After crossing the national road 6, you will finally visit the temple of Lolei. These three temples are part of the group of Roluos, built in the 9th century when the first capital of Angkor at the time, Hariharalaya, was located at this location. From the Bakong main entrance the road continues towards Psar Bakong in Meanchey commune. You can then make a stop at the Roluos Tea Garden en route for a well deserved refresh.
In the afternoon, visit the village and meet with Ms. San's neighbors. Depending on the season, educational program around the sugar palm: observation of the cooking of the sugar palm, initiation to weaving of palm leaves or weaving techniques.

For the sunset, weather permitting, transfer to the Phnom Bok culminating more than 200 m to enjoy the panorama of the plain of Angkor in the south and the mountainous ripples of Phnom Kulen to the north. Day 2Phnom Kulen & Banteay Srey
From Siem Reap, 2h transfer to the foothills of Kulen. The bed of the Mille Lingas river is decorated with hundreds of lingas (sahasralinga), mythological scenes and lotus flowers. You will discover the temple of Bantey Srei, the jewel of Khmer art. This small pink sandstone temple is the very expression of the refinement of Angkorian sculptural art. The finesse of his sculptures makes it one of the most remarkable of the Angkor site.

Day 3Angkor Thom & Angkor Wat
At dawn, you will have an appointment with the most famous and most incredible of all the temples of the city of Angkor: Angkor Wat. Considered the largest religious building ever built by man, this gigantic temple is a model of symbolism and symmetry, and today is more than ever the pride of an entire people. Erected in the 12th century by King Suryavarman II, it is unanimously recognized by specialists as the eighth wonder of the world, and has been listed since 1992 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In the afternoon, you will discover the prodigious city of Angkor Thom, the masterpiece of the most powerful Khmer ruler, Jayavarman VII. Following the occupation of Angkor by the Chams from 1177 to 1181, the new king decided to build an impregnable fortress in the very heart of his empire. The magnitude of the construction is staggering, and the audacity of the monarch strikes every visitor who enters the precincts of the city.

Day 4Preak Toal
Vous partirez sur le lac Tonlé Sap à la découverte de la biosphère préservée et immaculée de Prek Toal, habitat naturel de plusieurs espèces d’oiseaux endémiques, dont la plupart sont en voie de disparition. L’immense lac est l’un des plus prolifiques au monde et des milliers d’espèces vivent dans les forêts inondées du Tonlé Sap.
Prek Toal est l’un des endroits les plus prisés pour l’observation d’oiseaux rares en Asie du Sud-est ; vous y verrez des cigognes, des adjudants, des pélicans ou encore des ibis. Une excursion à Prek Toal nécessite un départ aux aurores vers 5h30 du matin. Vous serez donc conduit par bateau du Phnom Krom jusqu’à Prek Toal, et un petit déjeuner vous sera proposé durant la navigation. Après l’observation des oiseaux et un déjeuner local, vous partagerez la vie des habitants de l’un des villages flottants environnants, apprenant différentes de leurs techniques de pêche et de leur art de tisser la jacinthe d’eau. Le retour vers Siem Reap se fera en fin d’après-midi.
